Elizabeth--I love her writing, too. I read A Pilgrim at Tinker's Creek as a teenager, but I think I'd appreciate it more now that I'm an adult. I recently read her book on the writing life, and loved that, too.
I haven't read any of her books. I haven't been reading so much lately as I've been exploring drawing and painting more than I used to. I would substitute "makes art" for "reads" and this quote fits how I feel at the moment.
Timaree--You've just replaced one simple pleasure with another! I hope you're having a blast with creating art, and that you're immersed to your heart's content.
Kathy I just want to thank you for all of your wonderful comments you leave on my blog. I truly appreciate it! wonderful quote BTW, and bravo for taking on a reading challenge. perhaps I'll find time to read a bit at the beach this summer...
You're welcome, Elizabeth. Your posts are all so positive and uplifting--the messages are perfect ways to counteract the conflicting and sometimes hostile messages women get from the media.

I love Annie Dillard's writing! Have you read "A Pilgrim at Tinker's Creek"? And that is a perfect one-word title!
